Trace Tobin chose to become a personal injury attorney because of his devotion to serve those around him, and because of how massive collisions have touched his family’s lives. From a young age, Trace has seen the lasting impacts stemming from one driver’s carelessness.
Trace went to Washburn University, where he met his wife, Katie. Trace and Katie have a cat that Katie named Pusheen. Whether it’s spending hot summer days on the lake, gardening tomatoes, playing disc golf, or his nightly walks with Katie, Trace can almost always be found doing something outside in his free time.
Trace also works to find himself in the service of others. The service he is most proud of is his work with HOBY Kansas, a four-day leadership seminar held each year for high school sophomores. Trace has served with HOBY for nearly a decade, and is currently responsible for planning the content of each day of the seminar. Trace graduated from Washburn University in the Spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Religious Studies. Trace graduated summa cum laude, which helped him land a full-ride scholarship to the University of Kansas School of Law. While at KU, Trace helped co-found the Future Personal Injury Attorneys of Kansas club, earned a national CALI award in Consumer Law, and represented KU in numerous mock trial tournaments.
In his first year of practice, Trace was voted Best Personal Injury Attorney of Topeka in the 2025 Community Choice Awards and recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 recipient by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers. He credits much of his early success to the great clients he’s been able to help along the way, and the village it takes to get cases to the finish line.
